VBS TV (Vice’s online video service) has produced a series called ‘Toxic: Garbage Island.’ Several journalists voyage far out to sea in order to investigate claims they’d read of “a patch of garbage the size of Texas floating in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.” What they found “was an ecological disaster beyond any of our expectations.” This disturbed me greatly but I believe that it’s an insightful look into an important topic. Here is Episode 1 of this series.
This blog gets deluged with spam comments daily behind the scenes. Here’s my favorite from today. I didn’t even know these characters existed on my keyboard. It’s probably an ad for some Russian brand of Viagra.

I’m just learning about this kid DJ A-Trak. He’s currently the tour DJ for Kanye West. He won the DMC World Competition at age 15 in 1997, becoming the youngest person to ever hold that title. Here’s his performance from that event. It’s funky as hell and he’s got levels of audacity to match his youth and talent.
Oh look, another Google movie starring my very talented and very bearded friend Ryan Germick. This one is called ‘Mobile tricks: what can you do with your phone?’
I’d say it’s a tragic day for comedy, but that’s an ugly paradox. Besides, George Carlin would prefer it if we are laughing. Still, I’m sorry he’s gone. Here’s the classic bit that once landed the most revered comedian of his generation in jail:
I’m quite difficult to offend, but I was outraged recently when Fox News anchor E.D. Hill referred to Barack Obama’s ‘fist bump’ gesture as a “terrorist fist jab.” I actually don’t recall the last time I was so angered. I’m a big fan of some of the most offensive cultural material on Earth (Grand Theft Auto, gangsta rap, Trey Parker and Matt Stone), so if I’m offended, you know something’s up. I consider myself something of an Offensiveness Barometer, actually.
The Obama Campaign has launched a new site called Fight The Smears where lies about the presidential candidate are debunked.
